King Charles has had little communication with Prince Harry but is still open to reconciliation with his youngest son, it has been reported.
Prince Harryโs seemingly distant relationship with King Charles is cemented by the fact the Duke of Sussex has to make an appointment to see his father.ย
Royal author, Duncan Larcombe, said Harry is being โsubtly punishedโ with the โstand-off approach.โ
Harry stepped down as a senior working royal back in early 2020 and now lives in the US with Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The 39-year-old has made several trips to the UK since but has reportedly made very little, if any, contact with his family.
According to Mr Larcombe, who spoke around the time of the first anniversary of the death of the late Queen, Harry is being โpunishedโ by his father in a very slight manner, by simply requesting he make an appointment to meet up.
As reported by the Mirror, he said: โIt appears that King Charlesโ approach towards Harry now is business as usual โ โif you want to see me you need to make an appointmentโ.
โHarry will have to get past the grey suits and jump through hoops to talk to his father. Itโs very stand-offish but I think thatโs a way that the King is subtly punishing his son.โ
Unlike their father, Prince William is said to be not so keen to back down as forgive his brother, who he has reportedly not seen since the late Queenโs funeral in 2022.
The Sun previously reported that Mr Larcombe said: โItโs remarkable really, because when Charles became King he said he loved Harry and Meghan which was a huge olive branch โ which Harry then took, snapped in half and then hit him with itโฆ
โThe King is still keeping those channels of communication open, where William isnโt.โ
Meghan and Harry now live in a multi-million-pound home in Montecito with Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.
It seems that despite the strained relationship between Prince Harry and King Charles, there is still hope for reconciliation. The Duke of Sussex reportedly has to make an appointment to see his father, indicating a distant dynamic between them. According to royal author Duncan Larcombe, Harry is subtly being punished through this stand-off approach.
Since stepping down as a senior working royal in 2020, Harry has been living in the US with Meghan Markle and their two children. Despite making trips back to the UK, he has had minimal contact with his family, including King Charles.
Mr. Larcombe suggests that King Charles’ approach towards Harry is a form of punishment, as he must go through a formal process to schedule a meeting. This stand-offish behavior may be King Charles’ way of expressing his disapproval of Harry’s decisions.
On the other hand, Prince William is reportedly less inclined to forgive his brother for their rift. The lack of communication between the brothers since the late Queen’s funeral highlights the strained relationships within the royal family.
While King Charles is trying to keep communication channels open with Harry, William seems less willing to extend an olive branch. The dynamics within the royal family continue to shift, as Harry and Meghan navigate their new life in the US.
Despite the challenges they face, Meghan and Harry have created a comfortable life for themselves and their children in Montecito. Their focus remains on their family and their future together, despite the complexities of their royal connections.
