Scarlett Johansson says she โblacked outโ as soon as she saw her own photo during husband Colin Jostโs annual joke swap segment on โSaturday Night Liveโ last month.
โThatโs a milder version, if youโve ever heard the jokes,โ Johansson, often a target, shared with Kelly Clarkson on her talk showโs latest episode.
โAs soon as they showed my picture, I โ โ the actress continued, before admitting, โI actually donโt remember that segment. I fully blacked out.
In the Season 49 finale of the late-night comedy series, Jost and his โWeekend Updateโ partner Michael Che engaged in their annual joke swap, each crafting offensive jokes for the other to deliver live.
โChatGPT has released a new voice assistant feature inspired by Scarlett Johanssonโs AI character in โHer,โโ Jost, 42, started with an anxious laugh.
โWhich Iโve never bothered to watch, because without that body, whatโs the point of listening?โ he said, shocking the audience.
Johansson, 39, further lamented on the segment telling Clarkson, โIt is brutal, I feel like every year it gets worse.โ
โWe need to, like, go into witness protection that night. Like, I am absolutely terrified weโre gonna be like, targeted. Itโs so bad,โ Johansson explained.
This isnโt the first time the comedian has publicly cracked jokes at his wifeโs expense.
During their Christmas joke swap last December, Jost performed one of Cheโs written jokes for him that forced him to poke fun at his wife by comparing her to a highly regarded civil rights icon.
In the joke, Jost said that a recent law passed in New York that allows alcohol to be served in movie theaters was the only thing that made him enjoy his Johanssonโs โlittle art movies.โ
He then issued a fake apology, also written by Che, โIโm kidding, honey. I love all of your movies. And if you ask me, youโre an even better Black Widow than Coretta Scott King.โ
Johansson and Jost have been married since 2020.
Scarlett Johansson recently opened up about her experience during husband Colin Jost’s annual joke swap on “Saturday Night Live.” The actress revealed that she “blacked out” as soon as she saw her own photo, indicating that the jokes were quite harsh. She mentioned on a talk show that she doesn’t even remember the segment due to how overwhelming it was.
Jost and his comedy partner Michael Che participate in this joke swap every year, crafting offensive jokes for each other to deliver live. The jokes can be so brutal that Johansson joked about needing to go into witness protection afterward.
During a previous joke swap, Jost made a controversial joke comparing Johansson to civil rights icon Coretta Scott King. While the humor may be edgy, it’s clear that the couple has a dynamic that includes playful teasing.
Despite the jokes made at her expense, Johansson and Jost have been married since 2020, showing that they have a strong bond beyond the comedy routines. It’s interesting to see how their relationship plays out both on and off the screen.
