Coleen Nolan imposed punishment on herself, not allowing herself to rejoice or make jokes because she felt “guilty” after the de@th of her sister Bernie.

Loose Women star Coleen Nolan says she often feels โ€œguiltyโ€ following her sister Bernieโ€™s death, as the singer revealed why she has stopped touring with The Nolans.

Coleen Nolan has confessed to feeling โ€œguiltyโ€ following the death of her older sister, Bernie.ย

The 59-year-old reveals that she can be enjoying herself and sharing laughs with friends when she is suddenly overwhelmed by guilt, as if she has โ€œforgottenโ€ her sister.

Bernie, who was 52, died of breast cancer in 2013, and Coleen admits she thinks about her every day, acknowledging that grief is a โ€œnatural processโ€ that everyone must confront.ย

Her daily remembrance of her sister, Coleen explains, is why she opts not to post about her on significant anniversaries or birthdays on social media.

Coleen told Womanโ€™s Own that after Bernieโ€™s death in 2013, moments of laughter can trigger sudden guilt, feeling like sheโ€™s forgotten her sister, emphasizing the natural process of grief.

Coleen also attributes her decision to stop touring with The Nolans to Bernie, stating that her sisterโ€™s passion and role as the lead singer meant she โ€œwas The Nolansโ€.

The Loose Women panelist also reminisces about her last moments with Bernie, and the message she left for her family just before her death.

The family had gathered around Bernie at home in her bedroom, where they began to sing as she slept, reports the Mirror.

Coleen recounted: โ€œWhen we started singing she went โ€˜urghโ€™ with her hand and I went โ€˜cheeky b****โ€™, sheโ€™s still telling us weโ€™re out of tune. We all laughed because it was so her, โ€˜shut up, Iโ€™m trying to sleepโ€™.โ€

The singer has shared the poignant moment her family said their final farewells to Bernie, describing it as โ€œheartbreaking but beautifulโ€.

The Nolan family is all too familiar with the devastating impact of cancer.

Anne, the eldest sister, faced her first cancer diagnosis in 2000, with Linda receiving her diagnosis five years later. Tragically, Anne had to battle breast cancer again in 2020, but was declared cancer-free after treatment.

After the tragic death of her older sister Bernie, Coleen Nolan has been feeling a sense of “guilt” that lingers with her. Despite trying to enjoy moments with friends and laugh, Coleen can suddenly be overcome with feelings of guilt, as if she has “forgotten” about Bernie. This emotional weight has become a part of Coleen’s daily life, as she thinks about her sister every day.

Grief is a natural process that everyone must navigate, and Coleen has found her own way of coping. She chooses not to post about Bernie on significant anniversaries or birthdays on social media, as a way to honor her daily remembrance of her sister.

In a recent interview with Woman’s Own, Coleen shared that moments of laughter after Bernie’s passing can trigger unexpected guilt, serving as a reminder of the ongoing grieving process. She also revealed that her decision to stop touring with The Nolans was influenced by Bernie, recognizing her sister’s integral role as the lead singer and the heart of the group.

Coleen also reflected on her final moments with Bernie, recalling a touching memory of their family singing together in her bedroom. Despite the sadness of saying goodbye, Coleen describes the experience as both “heartbreaking but beautiful”, a sentiment that captures the complexity of losing a loved one.

The Nolan family has faced multiple battles with cancer, with Anne and Linda also receiving their own diagnoses. Despite the hardships they have endured, the family remains resilient and united in their support for one another.
