Loose Women star Coleen Nolan says she often feels “guilty” following her sister Bernie’s death, as the singer revealed why she has stopped touring with The Nolans.

Coleen Nolan has confessed to feeling “guilty” following the death of her older sister, Bernie. 

The 59-year-old reveals that she can be enjoying herself and sharing laughs with friends when she is suddenly overwhelmed by guilt, as if she has “forgotten” her sister.

Bernie, who was 52, died of breast cancer in 2013, and Coleen admits she thinks about her every day, acknowledging that grief is a “natural process” that everyone must confront. 

Her daily remembrance of her sister, Coleen explains, is why she opts not to post about her on significant anniversaries or birthdays on social media.

Coleen told Woman’s Own that after Bernie’s death in 2013, moments of laughter can trigger sudden guilt, feeling like she’s forgotten her sister, emphasizing the natural process of grief.

Coleen also attributes her decision to stop touring with The Nolans to Bernie, stating that her sister’s passion and role as the lead singer meant she “was The Nolans”.

The Loose Women panelist also reminisces about her last moments with Bernie, and the message she left for her family just before her death.

The family had gathered around Bernie at home in her bedroom, where they began to sing as she slept, reports the Mirror.

Coleen recounted: “When we started singing she went ‘urgh’ with her hand and I went ‘cheeky b****’, she’s still telling us we’re out of tune. We all laughed because it was so her, ‘shut up, I’m trying to sleep’.”

The singer has shared the poignant moment her family said their final farewells to Bernie, describing it as “heartbreaking but beautiful”.
