Cat Deeley opened up about her husband Patrick Kieltyโs current health woes on Mondayโs episode of This Morning.
The presenter, 47, was speaking about shingles with Dr Sara Kayat and her co-host Ben Shephard, who revealed one in three adults will get shingles in their lifetime.
While the trio discussed the symptoms of shingles, which most people struggle to identify, Cat revealed Patrick, 53, currently has the virus.
Cat explained: โSo, my husbandโs got it, at the moment, and one of the things wasโฆhe didnโt know what the symptoms were.ย
Or, he didnโt spot them. He actually thought heโd got fibreglass in his face.โ
Cat continued: โBecause heโd been shifting things at the house thatโs under construction at the moment. And then, he thought heโd touched his face.ย
โSo, heโd got like this burning, tingling, stinging sensation, but thatโs what he thought it was.โย
Shingles is a painful condition affecting mainly the skin, but sometimes the eyes, and caused by the same virus behind chicken pox.ย
The illness manifests in a rash and can be caught by anyone who has previously contracted chicken pox, which lies dormant in the body.
At Catโs request, Sara told viewers the symptoms of shingles. She said: โFirstly you tend to get this tingly, burning sensation.ย
โYou may also notice youโre feeling more fatigued โ youโve got a headache, youโre tired. You might even have a bit of a temperature.โ
โA few days later you can start to develop a blotchy rash and then that develops into fluid-filled blisters, which start to crust over and scab away.โ
Cat added: โThey can be on the trunk of your body. [Patrick] has got them on his face, actually!โ
Sara confirmed they can be โanywhereโ โ including the genitals and around the eyes.ย
Cat married Patrick, who hosts RTร Oneโs The Late Late Show and presented the original series of Love Island, in 2012.
They have two children together, both of them boys: Miles Kielty, eight, and James Patrick Kielty, six.
From 2002 to 2003, Cat and Patrick co-hosted Fame Academy, and they lived in the US for several years while Cat presented So You Think You Can Dance.
In May, Cat made a shock bedroom confession while she and Ben were discussing whether or not separate bedrooms are the key to a happy marriage.
To aid their discussion, Cat and Ben were joined by Linda Lusardi and married couple Emma and Kevin โ who choose to sleep in separate bedrooms.
Speaking about her own bedroom arrangements, Cat revealed she and Patrick sleep in separate rooms for most of the week.
She explained: โItโs one of those things that because of our schedule here [This Morning], from Monday to Thursday I sleep in the guest bedroom and the rest of the time Iโm back. Because otherwise I get up at 5am and I want to fall asleep earlier.โ
