King Charles once deputised for Meghan Markleโs father at the 2018 royal wedding but their bond has since โevaporatedโ, a source claims
Meghan Markle had to be โheld backโ from calling King Charles after โsabotagingโ her latest business venture, an insider claims.
In April, the former royal gifted 50 jars of strawberry jam in a basket of lemons, from her long-awaited lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, to influencers across the US.
But, an insider has told New Idea magazine that the 42-year-old believes it is โno coincidenceโ that the King authorised the release of his $50 Highrove Royal Estate Honey to coincide with her product.
The source said: โShe is trying to establish herself as a lifestyle mogul but now sheโs competing with a royal rival.โ
Meghan has not stepped foot on UK soil since the Platinum Jubilee in 2022 with the actress and Prince Harry now living in California.
The pair stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not attend the annual Trooping the Colour in June or the Duke of Westminsterโs wedding at Chester Cathedral.
Meghanโs relationship with King Charles has now โevaporatedโ to the point where she believes her father-in-law is interfering with her career, the source claims.
Charles has also just launched Highgrove Splash, a menโs aftershave retailing for $250, in a move which has further frustrated Meghan who was โplanning to develop her own menโs grooming rangeโ.
A source told New Idea: โShe had no idea [about this] and now suddenly, as she sees it, thereโs a glut of his products on the market.
โSheโs one step away from calling Charles about the clash but Prince Harry is holding her back.โ
Meghan watched on in support of her husband last week, as the 39-year-old was honoured at this yearโs ESPY awards in the US, for using his platform to โchange the worldโ through the creation of the Invictus Games.
The Suits star will now return to focus her efforts on her American Riviera Orchard brand but is โconvincedโ Charles promoting his new launches is a โdeliberate attempt to to curb her successโ.
It seems that tensions between Meghan Markle and King Charles have escalated since their once amicable relationship at the 2018 royal wedding. According to an insider, Meghan was reportedly on the brink of calling King Charles after feeling that he had “sabotaged” her latest business venture.
In April, Meghan gifted influencers across the US with jars of strawberry jam from her American Riviera Orchard brand, only to find out that King Charles had coincidentally released his $50 Highrove Royal Estate Honey at the same time. This move by the King has left Meghan feeling like she is now in direct competition with a royal rival in the lifestyle market.
Despite not having set foot in the UK since the Platinum Jubilee in 2022, Meghan is determined to establish herself as a lifestyle mogul. However, her plans have been thwarted by King Charles, who recently launched a men’s aftershave retailing for $250, a move that has left Meghan feeling frustrated.
Even though Meghan was in full support of her husband at the recent ESPY awards, where Prince Harry was honored for his work with the Invictus Games, she is now focusing her energy on her business. However, she is convinced that King Charles’ new launches are a deliberate attempt to hinder her success.
Despite the tension between Meghan and King Charles, it seems that Prince Harry is urging her to refrain from reaching out to his father about the clash. The situation between Meghan and King Charles has deteriorated to the point where Meghan feels that her father-in-law is interfering with her career aspirations.
Overall, it appears that the once cordial relationship between Meghan Markle and King Charles has soured, with Meghan now facing unexpected challenges in her quest to establish herself as a lifestyle mogul in the US.
